This class lives in the spaces between the notes. The stretch of a phrase. The emotional turn inside the melody. The strange little tension between structure and suspension that makes Arabic music feel so deeply human.

Suzanne will be shaping her distinctive movement style — influenced by multiple dance forms over decades of study — into this beautiful melody inspired by Darat al Ayam by Oum Kalthoum.

And because the piece sits in a waltz rhythm, there’s a softness and circularity to the movement that feels completely different from the sharper textures many dancers are used to.
